Today you can find coconut water in almost any healthy food or beverage but over a decade ago, it was constantly described to me as an “odd flavored juice”.

In 2010, I was the first Brooklyn ZICO employee and the 23rd person overall within the company. By 2012, I had built strong cross-promotional relationships with brands like KIND, Tom Shoes, and PopChips. Target, BJ’s and Fairway Market were some of my largest accounts. I traveled all over the country with the ZICO family and considered them

I developed in-store and promotional marketing programs in areas where I flourished and in areas that needed growth. Extensive national travel with “Team Z” meant opening new accounts, flipping Vita-Coco loyal stores to ZICO, and activating influencer-marketing programs.

Thanks to our majority investor, Coca-Cola, ZICO was able to launch the first ever resealable, recyclable, and all-natural coconut water in a plastic bottle … and I was part of it.
